Having sailed Lionel 455 one of our training boats I decided to "bite the bullet" and traded my Albacore up to a genuine one design boat with identical specs to every other Trio. So far I have loved every minute of pond racing. I find that the more close 3 sail reaches there are so much the better as the Trio, Versa and Zero can carry 3 sails quite comfortably where most assymetrics are forced to drop to 2 sails. I managed to grind an RS 500 to a halt who thought he could sail 3 sails on a close reach. Astounded the helm quipped "That's not an assymetric!" I didn't bother to argue the toss as results speak louder than words.
Looking forward to next outing to the sea as 3 sail reaches in a good breeze are outstandingly great fun.
